6 month old arching back

I’m hoping somebody can please help! My 6 month old baby boy has been arching his back and throwing his head back for the past four days, he seems to be in pain. He makes frustrated/ pushing/ crying sounds when does this. He is on medication for reflux so I don’t think this is the problem. He is eating normally and doesn’t have a temperature. Any ideas please?

Ah I remember this, it was horrible! Is there a chance she could be overtired or frustrated? I think that's the conclusion we came to with DD. It did pass.

Sorry, he not she!

Thank you Reclinehard. I did consider this, however, he does it at all times of the day, even after waking following 12 hours sleep! Sometimes he does it and seems quite happy at the same time! I’m wondering if it could be connected to teething maybe?

My DD is 16 weeks and has been doing this for the last few weeks but doesn't seem to be in any pain. I think she really likes it! I asked about it on a zoom breastfeeding call and the leader thought it was just that DD is nosey and wants to see what's behind her.

We’ve had this sometimes with my 11 month old, and like you thought it was pain related. In the end I realised he had itchy skin. He does sometimes get excema and although didn’t have a visible outbreak, I moisturised his skin and it clearly soothed him. I think with the central heating being turned on again it’s making sensitive skin abit sore! Could it be that?

DD did this for a while and there was a mix or reasons. Sometimes she didn't want to be in the position she was in (bedtime...) sometimes she just wanted to see behind her it seemed but also sometimes she had tummy pain, which we eventually worked out was due to CMPA and when she recently had dairy as a trial and a terrible reaction to it she did similar as it gave her a terribly upset tummy and unsettled her)
She's also had a reaction to egg which caused terrible itching but with that she slapped her tummy and rubbed herself against us x
