FGS I know I "grow" big children - but honestly you'd think DS3 would have the decency.....

to grow at a pace I can keep up with

He's nearly 20 weeks (4 and a bit months) and has been squeezing into 6-9 month sleepsuits for quite some time now. I've been sorting out the huge bags of clothes we had in the attic and have just got him ready for bed........wearing a 12-18 month one !

Ahh, does he have those lovely bouncy cherubic cheeks that big babies have. Ds had huge cheeks (was huge all over) and I used to love squeezing them. Not baby mad but, do love a baby with a bit of cheek fat

TheQueenOfQuotes · 09/10/2007 19:27

he's bouncy cherub everything - but is quite long so not too obvious LOL.

it's horrid isn't it, everyone makes those comments "isn't she sitting yet" err no she's only just 5 months etc etc etc

screaminghousewife · 09/10/2007 19:31

Ds was long (just tall now) and Cargirl I know what you mean, people do expect much more from them when they're younger than they are. On the plus side, the supermarket will now sell him my Sunday paper, 'because he looks 15'

TheQueenOfQuotes · 09/10/2007 19:31

cargirl - I had that problem especially with DS1 who was "late" for most of his development milestones. He was (still is) very tall and skinny and only started walking at 18 months. So you can imagine how I felt just 4 months later when at a "do" when he was struggling to get down some patio steps (only small ones) and was told (by numerous people) "oh can't he do steps yet, he's very late"

ermm no he's not late - I believe it's pretty normal for toddlers that have only been mobile on their feet for a couple of months to struggle with (even small) steps

it's when they are the youngest in the year at school but are the tallest it's a bit eek plus I'm very vertically challenged so people never think they could be exceptionally tall when they're out with just me!

CarGirl · 09/10/2007 19:33

and I've just remember the summer of doodles shoes when dd2 went from something ridiculous like a size 5 to size 6.5 in 8 weeks so went through 3 pairs of shoes in 2 months - it was mad & expensive!

screaminghousewife · 09/10/2007 19:33

Lol, yes I'm with you there, ds overtook me a couple of years ago, people look at him and then at me and I know what they're thinking. Makes me chuckle.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 09/10/2007 19:35

thankfully don't have the youngest in the year problem with DS1 and DS2 - September and November - but DS2 is taller than many of the Reception and YR1 children at DS1's school (DS2 will be 4 in November). We'll have to see what happens with DS3 - he's a May baby.

I do have the "vertically challenged" problem though - only people a rather petite 5ft'er. Of course it doesn't help that they're mixed race and apart from their lighter skin are just clones of DH

ooo I've never had a walking child with feet that small

DS1 IIRC was an 8 (walked at 18 months). DS2 was a 7 - walked at 10 months.

QQ snap - clothes swap sometime??????

CarGirl · 09/10/2007 19:37

think they have been blessed with my tiny feet so I think it was size 5 at 14 months

TheQueenOfQuotes · 09/10/2007 19:39

oooo you wouldn't want to swap any of my clothes, no sense of style, boring frumpy clothes in this house......and most are old and need replacing

awwww I can't imagine having a child with feet that tiny - maybe DS3 will be different (as I typed that a pig flew past the window )

{sad] See it was so long ago, can't remember what ds was, he's an adult 11 now!!

CarGirl · 09/10/2007 19:42

I thought dd4 was small (started of heavy but then became petite/tiny) at her 2 year check no she's still on the 75th centile for her height just 50th for her weight, she so had me fooled. It's amazing though !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TheQueenOfQuotes · 09/10/2007 19:42

screaming - I only know the (rough) sizes for the DS's as I've (very) recently taken a MASSIVE box of their old shoes out of the cupboard to sort out and they included shoes they wore around the time they started walking and there's none smaller than a 7 lol.

Ask me in a few years time and I'll probably not remember.

(Sigh) you know, think have just realised am never going to do the chubby cheeked baby thing again.

CarGirl · 09/10/2007 19:50

dd 4 is my last and abandons me regularly will go with anyone anywhere and she's only just 2

nooka · 09/10/2007 20:53

Maybe your babygrows shrank? dd is my little giant, and I do hope she slows down on the growing front soon. She wasn't a huge baby, but grew very fast from toddlerdom onwards and at seven, is in size ten clothes. Luckily she is quite mature, so doesn't have too many problems with comments etc (although people are regularly surprised she is actually so young). I do worry that she will grow up too soon though, it's already difficult to find age appropriate clothes for her (esp as she likes dresses/skirts best).

TheQueenOfQuotes · 09/10/2007 21:36

no definitely haven't shrunk .

He was wearing a 9-12m top today (which could have shrunk I suppose) - but also a pair of 6-12mn trousers - "non-shrinkable" material - which came down to only just below his ankle

None of mine were big babies (when they were born) 7lb 5, 7lb 11 and 7lb 6 respectively - but they just seem to turn into monsters within the first few weeks.....and so far show no signs of stopping LOL.
