Hi,
Wondering if anyone can provide any guidance. My son is 10 and is obsessed with building little models out of silk clay. He literally does it for hours per day. Don’t get me wrong, I love it that he is interested in something and gets enjoyment from it... but... he seems to want to do that, over all else. For example, he will rush his piano practise, homework etc, do the bare minimum but then is happy to spend hours making models. He isn’t a sporty boy in fairness but I wish he was outdoors more, exploring the world rather than hiding in his room building models. Am I being too harsh? Should it just let him get on with it if that’s what makes him happy?

You have raised a 10YO to leave youtube alone for long enough to learn a musical instrument, do his homework and be passionate about an art hobby. I'd say you're both doing great! Don't worry and just give him space to explore his own interests Grin

My brother was like that around those ages and now he works as a engineer at a aerospace company and totally social and charismatic. Don't worry 😉

He has a love for it, probably because he gets a sense of achievement out of it. It isn't a bad thing, it is the same reason we work hard all day just so at the end we can feel good about the job we have done for 5 seconds.

Thanks for all the replies. Reassuring to know everyone doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem!
