Unsure where this post should go, just looking for some advise.
My child’s in yr1 and we’ve been informed this evening by the school there’s been a confirmed COVID case in reception so they have therefore closed reception. However some of the reception kids siblings are in my child’s class/year. My child understands about germs etc however he has very close contact with other students & doesn’t understand about keeping distance.
I suffer from acute asthma & also his elderly grandmother lives with us.
I don’t feel comfortable sending him in to school, would that be a issue? Am I being reasonable?

You are being perfectly reasonable, regardless of the advice of the government. The problem with schools is there isn't a way to be extremely safe anymore, your children are mixing with 30 other children every day and it is pure luck who gets ill.

My sisters eldest school had a case of covid and they only sent the children in that class home, then waited a few days for test results from other staff members. One of them tested positive and had been teaching for a further 2 days, which I just find crazy.

Thank you for your reply Tacca it’s made me feel better keeping him home after reading your reply. I suffer from anxiety too & this whole situation had started to add to it again. Knowing he’s at home & not mixing with anyone makes me feel better. Will have a word with the school today x
