Almost 7 year old boy has started wetting bed again

Help! Since returning to school My ds has started to wet the bed. We’ve had almost a week of him doing this. One night it was twice. He just sleeps through. I’ve asked him if there’s anything worrying him and he said there wasn’t. I can’t think what else it may be. Anyone else experienced this? Thanks

I should say, he’s perfectly happy at school. No concerns there!

How long was he dry at night for before it started?

Probably a good 12 months. He has had the odd accident but that’s when he has had too much to drink before bed. I started limiting drinks just before bed and that seems to have worked. I just don’t understand it.

I feel your pain! My 7yr old started at the beginning of lockdown. We gave it a bit of time to see if it would improve and it didn't so saw the doc last week and she advised we get a bed wetting alarm. It's worth keeping a diary of how much he drinks / pees (like literally measure it in a jug) - our doc advised the Dry Dawn app for this (www.DryDawn.com) - and then talking to the doc to help them narrow down the problem. There is a charity called Eric as well which has loads of info (part of NHS I believe - www.Eric.org.uk). We bought our bed wetting alarm from Amazon, it's called the Dry Easy alarm and was just under £40. Once you get the hand of clipping it on it works well and DS doesn't seem bothered by wearing it. Hope that helps!

Would deffo recommend ERIC. I work in healtchare and recommend this charity. I think just patience and consider a bedwetting alarm if it doesn't settle. Make sure he's drinking plenty and avoid the temptation to fluid restrict and don't wake him at night to go as it'll just mean his bladder won't train itself to go the night. I'd have a low threshold for seeing your GP as well if it doesn't settle as it's a bit more suspicious that there's a secondary cause if he was previously dry

Whilst it’s most likely to be the disruption of going back to school I would ask the GP or pharmacist to check his urine for glucose. Bed wetting was the first sign that dgs was diabetic.
