my ds screams at the top of his voice all the time, but he is really happy. He smiles when he does it but it is ear splitting. After a 2 hour car journey once we were nearly all deaf. Please can anyone offer advice. I have tried saying sssshhh and holding up a finger to my mouth. I've tried ignoring it, shouting back, walking out of the room (to try let him know that mummy doesn't like it and its not good behaviour)its getting so bad that he cleared a restaurant when on holiday. is this normal? ds1 didnt do it. ds2 is 18 months.....help

my ds and dd do this too (though ds age 3 just now does it for effect)
dd aged 9 months does this all the time and i fear it may continue but i have no advice sorry
i think they just enjoy the noise

OMG, it's like you've just described my DD! She's 15mths old, and does this constantly, and has done since she could first make a noise. Overheard a woman in Sainsburys yesterday say to her partner " yes, i do want a baby, but not one like that!" & "i don't know how they cope, i'd ask for a refund!". Like yours, dd is a happy little thing, i'd rather her do this than cry and whinge all the time, but it does give us constant headaches!!

Sorry, again no advice, but i do empathise and look forward to any advice that may come your way!

This is him expressing himself unfortunately.

You will not be able to make him understand this is annoying to people at this age.

My 16 month old screams constantly, when we go to playgroups within 10 minutes all of the other children are screaming too!

He'll grow out of it and until then try to laugh it off.
