Hi all...

I have a 3y/o boy...just turned.

He is able to socialise without a problem, very engaging..good eye contact, has a vocabulary of 500 words(approx), enjoys nursery, outdoor play.
He sleeps well...goes to bed ok through 7/6, slightly slow eating his food picky with some things. Reached all his 3y/o milestones.

It was brought to our attention last week by a play worker at nursery when a child screams it really upsets him and he is in tears.
No other loud noises do this eg hoover food blender just another kid crying.

This has made me particularly worried so we’ve had a look into things which could be a sensory issue..I.e a hypersensitivity to this particular noise.
We’ve also noticed that he sings quite a lot, which we have actively encouraged since he’s been able to, and also makes his own words up to songs.
He also has tantrums over the slightest things..although not often.
I am sure I am being a little paranoid, but it seems the symptoms for a sensory issue are very subjective.
Anybody else had experiences like this or similar?

Thanks for reading- my first post.

He seems totally normal- just a child who is more sensitive/ empathetic will need extra support to regulate his emotions in these situations. With maturity he will also find hearing other cry less upsetting

It sounds to me like he is just scared/startled by a screaming child.. it does not sound anything like a sensory disorder. I am actually really surprised that the nursery raised it as a concern.

Thanks for your reassurance..I don’t think I was concerned there was anything untoward just makes you worry that extra big when someone raises an issue.
