Sons speech driving me crazy

I know this sounds silly but I'm really going crazy. My son is 2.5 and isn't saying much. He barely says 10 words and some of them arnt even clear. His understanding is there so, although I have some concern, I'm not entirely worried.

My stress comes from hearing the same word over and over and over again. Every day since he started speaking his go to phrase is "AhhhDaaahhhh" or occasionally Dehdeh . I can comfortably say Ive heard that AhhhDaaah word 500+ times a day for the past year and a half.

I do everything a normal parent does (reading, interactive play, describe what hes/I'm doing). Today I've just not had the patience and I feel I'm getting stressed towards him. He wanted me to tickle his tummy. I sat with him for 10 mins just to try and say tummy. I made him watch my lips and tried to get him to repeat. It constantly came out as DehDeh. Earlier in the day I did owl and Dehdeh was his word.

He has a hearing test (almost certain it's fine). Again.... Its not that he's behind that ls annoying me.... I'm just going mad in this house hearing that one word over and over and over.... And lockdown hasn't helped.

Vent over.

Just to add, it's even become a running joke in my family....

He's started receiving gifts like water bottles with "ahhh dahhh" written on.... His 3.5 year old cousin calls in Ahhh Daahh cus that's all he's heard him say.

I'm just sick of that word

Is he being assessed by a speech therapist or anything? It's great he understands but I think it's getting to the point now where he should at least be assessed by a professional X

His health visitor hasn't been in a while due to covid. They still occasionally call but say he's too young for a, speech assessment anyway... I bring his speech up often and they just give me advice on what I should be doing with him (which I'm doing already)

But they've just booked a hearing test for now.

I think they're fobbing you off. I am a convert to the 'wait til they're 2' attitude after my experiences with my own dd but I think after this point the older they get the less chance there is they'll catch up. I would see your GP if HV not helping. I think he needs a speech therapist even if just to say they think he will catch up by himself. I have a friend who's little boy got speech tx possibly before he was even 2. He's not too young x

I agree with previous poster, speech therapy techniques, which at this age are all play based, are aimed from 18M onwards
