Meltdowns in 2.5yo

DD2 has been having some meltdowns for the past week or so.

She is a strong willed little girl and her "terrible twos" are more noticeable than her sister's.... however this is something else.

She flips over nothing and just screams and kicks and hides in a corner. She refuses to be picked up, to be talked to, she says NO NO NO to everything (yes even bribing with sweets and tv!!). Even looking her in the eye triggers more screaming.... it kind of goes away after half hour.

We've considered pain, tiredness,..... sensory problems (she has struggled with heat in the past) but nothing really fits. We've wondered if, since her teeth are out, that maybe it could be a gum pain issue? She does put her hand in her mouth but could be a comfort thing?

Just got out the phone with GP and they said it was normal and not pay attention to it. That this can happen around this age for a few days/couple of weeks and then goes away. I don't know...... we feel lost...

Is there anyone who had any experience with something like this? Is the GP being dismissive?.... shall we see how it goes and maybe see a different doctor?

Thanks

Quite normal for the age. I would absolutely not do anything to try to stop it: let her work it through. Don't give in on anything, don't show anxiety, just let her work it through. It is a very frustrating age: they have such very strong desires, they are learning so many new things they can do, but they also (for good reason) have very little power.

Apparently I was very difficult at that age (including the tantrums); my mother told her mother that "I will never manage to raise that child, I'll never manage her". But from the age of 5 or thereabouts I was pretty polite and compliant and (as far as I can see) I was a dead easy teenager.
