Hi to everyone

My daughter is 16 month old & i dont know if i am worrying too much so i need your help.

My daughter always was a tv lover , she watches cocomelon alot.
She laughs when they laugh, clap & dance when they do. She pays attention to them carefully.
When i try to play with her while the tv is on, she keep turning back to the tv.

I DECIDED that there will be no more TV (maybe should have done that earlier )

Things she does and doesnt.

  • she babbles but doesnt say words.
  • she seems to understand when i tell her, come, stand up, open your mouth etc.
  • she laughs , smiles , responds to name .
  • she walks perfectly.
  • she eats alone.
  • she doesnt like us to teach her to play with her educational toys , instead she like to grab the remote and play with it, and yeah she know that when i press something should cchange in the tv .
  • she doesnt copy what i do .
  • she doesnt point.
  • she plays with her toys but still prefers remote, mobile, bottles ( same as siblings)
  • she claps.
  • if she dislikes what im saying to doing she shouts (she doesnt shout other times or if i sing for her ) i truly believe its coz she wants her tv.
  • ahe sleeps 11 hours at night and naps 1-2 hours once a day.
  • she is okay around family and friends.
  • she explores everything with her index finger by touching and feeling it.
-she likes it when we play with her (still searching for the tv) -she knows how to drink from her bottle etc.

I guess my main concern is that she doesnt wanna pay attention when im trying to teach her body parts and educational games.( she is so attached to her tv)

I can tell she is missing the tv, been 2 days.
Tv was a bad decision :(

Any ideas ? Any suggestions? Any worries ?

Push through. You’ve acknowledged that she was watching too much TV - now she has to readjust to not watching it.

Can you try and be in a room with no TV (on or off) at all? In terms of words, reading is key - are you reading to her? And also talking to her constantly narrating what you’re doing?

Trips out and about while the weather is nice is also good for getting the TV out of sight!

Thanks for your reply.
I dont have a room without tv .
But i started reading to her more than before in order to get her full attention. ( later today i already started feeling a diff to be honest, although its day 1 )

Btw, i work from home thats why i had no other option but the tv :( but now i quit
