3 year old hysterical when hurting himself

My DS is not a good patient 🤣 If he cuts or grazes himself he gets into a right state and is one of these children who won't let you near it or out anything on it or even look at it worth out getting hysterical 🤦🏻‍♀️
He just fell off his scooter at the park and had a nice graze on his elbow which is a bit bloody. It took me ages to persuade him to wipe it with an antiseptic wipe and then he didn't want cream on just a plaster so I put cream on the inside of the plaster when I put it on 😂
He just isn't very good at dealing with an injury or cut.
Is this normal?
And is it just something he will outgrow?
Is there anything I can do to help him deal with it better?

Hi,hope his grade is better!

I would say this is very common, and comes in phases. The trick is making enough fuss that they feel.comforted and not so much that you make it worse Grin.

I remember one of mine slipping once and grazing an elbow and the noise and upset was MASSIVE, I assume it is the shock.

If it was me, if he grazed his elbow, I would try to be very kind but not flap much, give plenty of reassurance and wait til he was calm before trying to do the plaster/cream etc.

Obviously you have to be fast with some emergency things, but a graze will wait until after he's had a cuddle and calmed down.
