ds was taught by his OT at 7 but has conveniently forgotten. Am looking to get lace locks so he has more choice of shoe. Friend of mine refused to let her ds wear velcro to school so he learnt at 5.

codswallop · 30/09/2007 17:31

oh god ds1 is paintful
and hes realyl dextrous normally

if they want to play football in their new boots they WILL learn quickly

(velcro good for school)

Twiglett · 30/09/2007 17:39

still on velcro at 6.5

haychee · 30/09/2007 17:40

dd1 taught at age 6 competent at 7.

She needed to learn so she could do her own dancing shoes at class when im not there, so soon get it mastered.

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2007 17:40

OT?

ahundredtimes · 30/09/2007 17:41

Aaaaagh. Aaaaaagh.

The horror, the horror Mr Kurtz.

Is there not some foolproof way to show them? DS2 and I in tears of a regular basis with the blardy football boots, which he doesn't want to wear or indeed every have to play football.

HIs OT didn't show us. He just said 'he'll get it eventually'

Sobs.

ahundredtimes · 30/09/2007 17:42

And I think ds1 just has an incredibly complicated knotting system, as opposed to bows.

hoxtonchick · 30/09/2007 17:56

we taught ds randomly one afternoon, he's 5. i was quite surprised when he got it. but he got a very nice pair of converse as a reward! now he's trying to tell the time....

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2007 17:56

Pleeeeeeeeeeease - OT??

ahundredtimes · 30/09/2007 17:57

Did you have some brilliant way of showing him hoxton, or is just completely marevellous? Of course he's marvellous, but how did you do it?

ahundredtimes · 30/09/2007 17:57

Oh sorry. Occupational Therapist.

LIZS · 30/09/2007 17:58

OT = occupational therapist

codswallop · 30/09/2007 17:58

ah well if the ot says hell get it eventiually

i remember seeing this site raved about on here

ahundredtimes · 30/09/2007 18:00

Hmm. But he doesn't have to be here with the crying and the gnashing teeth. I wish he'd show him.

he just keeps going on about organization and frustration. Which is frustrating.

He's not that interested in us. We don't have to go back for 6 months.

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2007 18:07

Thank you

hoxtonchick · 30/09/2007 18:17

er, i was over the other side of the room, dp put in the hard work .

ahundredtimes · 30/09/2007 18:37

Can he come round? Can i pay him? If I promise to stand on the other side of the room?

I think I'm as useless as ds2 actually. We get our left and rights all muddled up and our fingers go all wooly and bendy and then we cry.

hoxtonchick · 30/09/2007 18:55

i will send you a double whammy of dp and ds & you & me & our dds can go shopping .

ahundredtimes · 30/09/2007 18:56

Oh god how marvellous. We shall have a Shoe Weekend. Dp stays behind here with dh and ds1 and ds2, and we skedaddle out with dds and buy vast amounts of unsuitable shoes without laces.

hoxtonchick · 30/09/2007 19:34

oooh yes. and handbags.
