Can anyone help me.

I have always believed ds has something wrong, never been able to put my finger on it but he has always be a very distructive child.

Ds is 5 now, he is always in a world of his own, he is very hyperactive, never listens to me no matter how many times i tell him something he still wants to do what he wants to do, it is as if he is so wrapped up in what he is doing he just can't listen to anyone.

He is very obsessive with things.

He runs off alot & if you tell him to stop or there is a road etc he won't he thinks he knows best, no matter what you say to him it just is as if he is not regognising what you are saying.

He is however quite bright & intelligent i would say but he is very naughty with it.

He is distructive, teacher told me yesterday he was being disruptive in singing & had to be told many times to stop, it is as if he gets to excited & nothing else matters.

I may be reading to much into this & i really hope i am, do you think i should see the doctor or someone how can they tell if he does have it?

Personally i have just always thought it something just does not sit right with his behaviourer.

Any advice would be good.

You could ask the school for him to be assessed by an ed psych. Or your could go to your GP and ask for a referal to a developmental paed. Before you go keep a diary of behaviour over the week as evidence and doctors, etc, can only go on what they see and no doubt your child will suddenly turn into a little angel. In what way is he obsessional? Does he relate well to others? What is eye contact like with family and with strangers? Have there been any big changes in his life which might exaserbate behaviour? Sorry about the questions but they might help you to pinpoint something further

I think if you think there is a something, whatever it may be then it is worth investigating. Diet plays a big role in attention so that may be worth casting an eye over.

All the best.

sounds a bit like my ds, we modified his diet, cut out sugars and artificail things and it made a bit of a difference, the health food shop lady thought that he may benefit from omega 3 supps.
