DD was 2 last week .

She likes Happy People. She also likes buggies and prams and puts lots of things in them. She is getting more into dolls now. Also likes cars and trains (mainly due to presence of older DS ).

She also loves books. Tea set also popular and jigsaw puzzles.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 27/09/2007 12:34

stacking cups like the ones from ELC.

CatIsSleepy · 27/09/2007 12:36

my dd loves books, anything with wheels, and anything that plays annoying tunes (damn!)

Roseylea · 27/09/2007 12:36

Not exactly a product as such, but my wonderful childminder has a rule that none of her toys have batteries in, because she feels that battery-operated toys don't offer as much scope for imaginative play and as many possibilities (they only do one thing, whereas a ball or a set of building blocks can do an infinte number of things). I think this is a great rule and wish I'd thought of it when my dc were tiny!

tasja · 27/09/2007 13:01

Roseylea, that sounds great. Will try that. DD also loves books and loves her teaset. Will get her a big storie book for Christmas in her native tongue.

Anything else?

DS is 17 months and he loves cars. Also got a pretend kitchen which he spends hours in, putting play money into microwave, toast into washing machine etc etc!

Skyler · 27/09/2007 13:06

Aquadraw.

mustsleep · 27/09/2007 13:18

yes aquadraw is great

also buggy and baby

till from the elc with trolly and little pretend tins
an old handbag and purse and some play money

ohh and an old flip mobile phone

feetheart · 27/09/2007 13:19

Roseylea/tasja - that rule happens in my house too, partly for the same reasons as your childminder and partly because they drive me MAD. I also refuse to let my children watch any TV with adverts on

Ds is nearly 2 and loves cars/diggers/trains/etc, his baby doll (little one from ELC), books, Mega-bloks (not the enormous ones) and anything he has nicked from his sister's room
However his absolute favourite ATM is a plane set with vehicles, people, luggage etc Its a bit like Playmobile but with less bits to fall off/eat. I'm trying to find out if they do anything else as he loves it and plays all sorts of games with it.

Marne · 27/09/2007 13:23

DD2 (18 months) likes anything noisy

Lazy town radio
Bead frames
Little people Ark
Balls
Sopping basket
Noisy books

Dd1 loved
Aqua draw
Mega blocks
Crayons

boo64 · 27/09/2007 14:54

Feet - is the plane from ElC? I think we have that too - they have a range of similar stuff e.g. fire engine

Ds's faves (he is 2.2 so a bit older but has liked this stuff for a while):
Tea set
small skip lorry from Tesco (all of £3.97) which he fills with rubbish and tips out
stuffed dog collection
Piano book - a ladybird one which plays tunes when you press buttons and has the words to each song - if you're interested i will find the proper name of it)
Loads of books but especially the Usborne ones which he has loved since about 18 months - loads to see e.g. Trains, trucks, town.
Thomas train set is starting to be popular.
Wooden peg puzzles
Pretend food, pans and microwave from ELC.

GColdtimer · 27/09/2007 15:02

Tea set in a little bag
Baby change kit in a little bag and her baby doll
Big lego, kept in a little bag

(anyone spotting the theme).

Also, franny inspired SMA tin with posting ping pong balls. It has stopped her posting CDs through the cat flap

Oh and ones of those hoop cone things where then can stack the hoops themselves.

Is aquadraw worth getting? Sounds like it?

Flamesparrow · 27/09/2007 15:18

Little People Pirate Ship
Stacking cups
Building blocks
My videos
My dvds
The phone
The remote

tasja · 27/09/2007 15:40

Oh yes, mobile and remote

Made a note about Little People and stacking cups. Aquadraw is on top of list for christmas. will have to buy it here, don't have it in SA

Flamesparrow · 27/09/2007 15:47

Oh, his sister's lego pirateship is well loved too

Sunshinemummy · 27/09/2007 15:59

TMX Elmo is fantastic.

UniSarah · 27/09/2007 20:44

A remote control from a long gone TV. the contents of my kitchen cupboards and veg box, more balls than I can shake a stick at. Lots of books.
On the bought toys front, duplo lego, a sit and ride car, some smallish push along cars. A beads on wire thing, a dolly buggy, a sand bucket and spade ( for wondering round the garden with or taking to beach)
One we don't have but have borrowed from toy lib and will do so again, a clic clack car tower.

BlueberryPancake · 27/09/2007 20:56

20 month old son likes:

-His ball and mini-criket set
-his tea set
-his train set (the wooden one from Tesco) -a mini-suitcase on wheel - I put some toys in it when he is asleep, and he always checks it and goes 'wow' and plays with whichever toys I have put in, even if he's had these toys for ages!
-books with images that he can name - Red Car! Train! Elephant! Big Cat! that kind of thing, not really story books but just images of stuff
-Sometimes we have a 'disco' - we get all his "musical instruments out", put some music on, and we play 'music' and dance around, he loves that
-his horse from Ikea
-old free cds and cd cases, he can spend ages 'sorting out' the cds opening the cases and fitting the cds in the 'right' case.

sannie · 27/09/2007 21:14

magnet books are a big hit!!!
Amazon has a great Thomas the Tank Engine one.

Flamesparrow · 28/09/2007 09:53

Ooh will look on amazon

Acinonyx · 28/09/2007 10:16

Feetheart - please tell me what plane set your dc has I've been looking for one but don't want the big playmobile one.

dd 26 mo, favourites:
tea set (even a tiny china tea set - she's very gentle)
small elc play kitchen (she cooks marbles and money in it)
jigsaw puzzles
dominoes - have the dalmation dominoes and the big wooden ones with pictures on one side and spots on the other
block puzzles
plastic jewellery making set with big linking pieces
assorted jewellery, small misc. objects and small boxes
trike
dolly stroller
little people dolls house
Happy Street (handed down from a friend - especially good when there are several toddlers around)
books

Making tents (table cloth pegged to cutains and over chairs) and having teaparties with her stuffed friends is very big at the moment.
