Hi,
I can't go in to the details for legal reasons but I'm looking for advice on games to play with an 18mth old who is showing signs if an attachment disorder. Play is always independent and fleeting and nothing maintains the LO's attention for longer than a minute. Even games the LO is enjoying will be stopped or discarded and usually if you join in they will walk away so we're doing lots of parallel play. There is a chequered history but we're focusing on the future and want to help them as best we can. Our current goals are to increase trust in adults, and develop and improve communication skills.

This is probably too specialist a question for here as building LOs trust will depend on what they've been experienced to. Do you have a support network.. social worker, or LAC service that can support?

I do and they're fab. I was just looking for extra ideas. We've had improvements over the last week but any additional ideas t9 grab his attention would be fab.

Sorry, I think I read your post wrong I thought it was games to support attachment, if it's just general there's some great blogs around to follow, these are good..

For younger age, I found treasure baskets great.. Any thing you have around in box or basket the more random the better - spoons, scrubbing brush, glasses case, tin, - just not too small. He could play on his own but also you could join for a little bit.
