My 11mth old dd seems to have turned into a completly different baby over the last couple of weeks. She used to be a very happy, smiley little girl and now she is whiney and unhappy. She has just started crawling and whilst i thought that would be a good thing because she could actually go after the toy she has thrown rather than sit there and pine after it because of it being out of reach. She just cries and whines constantly.

Meals are becoming ever more difficult too. She used to be good and eat most of what was given to her, now if i try and spoon feed her she just tries to knock the spoon from my hand and cries. If i put the plate of food in front of her she just gets the spoon and throws it the wacks the plate until she throws that too. I am worried she isn't eating hardly anything.

Has any of this happened to anyone and how did you resolve it? I am at my wits end.

Sorry for obvious question, but could she be teething? It can go on FOREVER if she is (sorry)!

It sounds like she could be teething? Most LO's go through this stage - not eating, whinging and whining non-stop. Have you tried rubbing some teething gel on her gums. Has she got any other symptoms like snotty nose, rosy cheeks, high temp? You could also give her a dose of Calpol. Do you have a teething ring that she could chew on? We used to keep ours in the freezer all the time and give it to our DS when we thought he needed it.

My ds is 9 months and was exactly as you describe, for a week or so last week.

Sure enough, a tooth has now appeared! I just put it down to him being grumpy, but now I feel bad that I diidn't give him Calpol or something as his mouth obviously hurt.

he's back to his usual sunny self now.

Those homeopathic powders are good

She has 6 teeth and there were no real troubles while they came through. I thought she could be ill but she has no symptoms like a runny nose etc. She is a bit clingey as well.

It may be one of the molars or bigger teeth trying to break through! Lots of cuddles and some Calpol should do the trick! Poor little thing!!!

IcingOnTheCake · 20/09/2007 10:07

I will give Calpol a try.

Well i am taking her to the doctors tomorrow because i have just taken another dry nappy off of her which she has been wearing for a good 4 and a half hours. Usually they are very wet. She also only ate half a riveta today and she is very down.
