Will lack of tummy time cause delays?

My 8mo DD has yet to show any signs of crawling. She was a very sicky baby in the early months and so tummy time was limited as she would be face planting into vomit 🤢
She has been sitting up happily since about 5.5mo and when I do tummy time now she hates it, bad memories or she just wants to be sat up and looking around.
She can push up on her hands but no sign of bum going in the air to go on all fours.
She has also never rolled over, although when on her back, she gets over onto her side easily.
Do I just persevere with the tummy time despite the crying or will she just 'tip over' from sitting and get going? She can reach quite far and leans over on her hands while sat sometimes.

No... tummy time was only just beginning to be a 'thing' 11 years ago with my oldest, and honestly we all seem to have been fine without it!

DD didn't start crawling until 10 months and DS until 12 months - DS does have some coordination difficulties and maybe ADHD, so his degree of lateness maybe indicated that, but DD is fine and wasn't that far ahead of him. And none of it was to do with tummy time.

I don't know whether lack of tummy time actually causes delays but it certainly doesn't help. Ds is 7 months today and has been able to sit up independently for a long time so I think I've neglected tummy time in favour of sitting and standing (he can stand very sturdily with something to hold onto). I started enforcing tummy time (to an extent) a couple of weeks ago and he has come on in leaps and bounds since with his rolling. Has so much more strength in his arms now and can push up onto his hands with his torso off the ground which he couldn't previously do and is showing signs of wanting to crawl. Being on their front helps them to learn to get up into the sitting position themselves as they kind of back up into it and helps with their overall mobility. I would try to persevere if you can as it certainly won't harm her.

We were the same with tummy time problems, DD absolutely hated it. She didn’t roll until she started crawling, which she started from a sitting position anyways at about 9 months. I used to really worry about it too, it’s difficult not too! She will get there Smile

When I told my Mum I was worried about not giving baby enough tummy time, she looked at me like I’d popped out of an egg! When I explained, she burst out laughing 😂

As she quite rightly pointed out, I was never given any tummy time and I’m not dragging my head along the floor so it’s really not worth worrying about 😂😂

My little girl hates tummy time, all the babies who were the same age as her did loads of it. But mine would never do more than a couple of seconds before crying!
She started crawling at 10 months old from a sitting position, and didn’t start rolling over until a few weeks of crawling.
I used to worry lots but realise now that they all do things in their own time!

Mine hated tummy time and we told this the hv and she just said keep trying with her as it's important, we said ok and then never didn't it again. We weren't willing to upset a content baby for something we didn't know whether would be beneficial.

She wasn't a crawler and bum shuffled around happily then walked at 15 months

What's actually the average a baby crawls if at all? I always thought it was about 8 to 12 months and that before 8MO would be quite unusual?? Anyho I dunno how much impact tummy time has but I'd guess not an awful lot as they all get there in the end. My LO did get tummy time (don't know how much though as we adopted her at 9MO) She was 8.5MO crawling, 5MO sitting up, 12MO walking and I'd say her physical skills are quite advanced. She is 25MO now and can jump and climb anything with ease, walk herself along a balance beam, ride a balance bike and almost peddle her tricycle (she can go backwards lol) ... I don't think you have anything to worry about tbh. Just let her enjoy herself and it'll all come. Tummy time has been shown to be beneficial but I don't reckon it's worth stressing yourself out over. If you're concerned then play crawling games with her and don't encourage walking too much by holding her hands to walk etc but she'll be fine I'm sure xx
