Hi mum's, looking for a bit of reassurance. My 16 week old son has began laughing as he's falling to sleep at least once a day. I looked it up on Google (as you do) and come across a sign this gelastic seizures and scared myself to death. Has anyone had their little ones doing this at 4 months?

Not sure if I can help but didn't want to read and run. My dd did similar up to about 4 months probably, like when she'd just fallen asleep she'd laugh silently for a couple of seconds.. Is that what's happening?

Hiya, thank you for commenting, it can be through day or night. He will begin falling asleep then laugh out loud for a few seconds or so? What did you mean by silently? It's really got me freaked out as he did it the other day and really giggled. Obviously Google has scared me half to death. I was hoping loads of people will be like yeah they do that all time haha.

Ah I really don't know, hopefully someone can come along with similar experience. What I meant by silent is just that she would look like she was laughing but not make any sound, so it's different to your experience. Maybe speak to a doctor?

My son has done this for weeks (he's 20 weeks tomorrow). He laughs more when asleep than awake. I thought he may be having funny dreams but now I'm worried too.

Thankyou for helping bunpot. aimxd please don't panic like I have, got myself into a right state. I'm sure there's plenty of us out there, the thing I've researched is so rare that it's very most likely not that. I've started a diary for the doctor to look at who has has also said it's extremely rare. I just wanted to know there were others like him.

I'm going to ask my HV tol, she's out this afternoon. I had a look but his laugh in his sleep is similar to his laugh when he's awake, plus when he was younger he used to smile in his sleep before he did whwn he was awake. It could be that he's unconsciously practising a new skill (my HVs opinion at the time). Hopefully its just that for both our LO's x

Yeah exactly, my worry is very irrational to be fair. That's why I'm looking for people to tell me there lo do simerlar things haha. Hopefully it's just another wierd thing babies like to do x
