Ds is 16 motnhs and still sleeps curled up in the corner of his cot pressed against the bars. Do they go into toddler beds still sleeping like that or do we have to wait til he sleeps stretched out before changing?

Hi ShoppingBagsundereyes
cant offer advice but my dd who is also 16 months sleeps like a little rabbit & always ends up at the top of the cot. So does my newphew who is 19 months. I thinking the very same, when do we change from cot to cot bed?

expatinscotland · 18/09/2007 10:56

I think it's adorable how they do that.

DD2 is 21 months and she sometimes still does that.

Trinityrhino · 18/09/2007 10:57

dd2 is 2 and a half and still sleep like that. she went into a bed at 19 months and one side of it is against the wall and she 'puppies up' to the wall as it were

phdlife · 18/09/2007 10:59

ds (5m) has always slept in "crucified" position - do they change to "puppy" later, do you think?

mustsleep · 18/09/2007 11:04

dd didn't she has always slept like that (crucified position) although now she is nearly two there are variations of frontwards or backwards

MrsMarvel · 18/09/2007 11:05

My dd who's "hot-blooded" sleeps prostrate and kicks the covers off. My dd who feels the cold slept more in a more foetal position until I gave her a thicker duvet. My theory is that it's to do with whether they feel the cold.

phdlife · 18/09/2007 11:06

oh that's interesting MrsM - but I think when ds is cold he just whinges, he doesn't curl up!

mustsleep · 18/09/2007 11:18

yes mrsmarvel dd keeps er covers on and sleeps in the crcified position and ds who as retty bad eczema on his legs kicks hi covers off and them later on whe he ges cold curls into a feotal position

deaconblue · 19/09/2007 11:58

so we can move him into his toddler bed and see what happens. Thjought I might get one of those side rail things so he has somehting to puppy up to

DD was like this and when she first went into a bed she was forever falling out. Didn't bother her, we'd find her curled up asleep on the floor. We got a bed guard for a bit, and now she only falls out very occasionally. We often find her in the strangest positions though.

mustsleep · 19/09/2007 14:50

dd's bed has one of the fisherprice rails on one side an the wall on the other and i think it makes the transition easier for them as there is still he comfort of the "walls" around them sort of thing must make them feel safer

also will give you piece of mind too

deaconblue · 19/09/2007 19:03

i think wall on one side and rail on the other will be the way forward. He just seems so cozy alll snuggled against the headboard
