Late walkers

Late walkers....anybody?

Worried first time mum.

My DD is 20 months. She's a big Bub...98% percentile for height and weight.

She has been a bum shuffler since around 14 months. She can also crawl - fast! She can pull to stand, cruise furniture. Loves to climb into and over everything - and really loves pushing all the cushions off the sofa and diving into them!

But she is still not walking. She has walked with a walker but it's all in tippy toes.

I've booked an appointment with a physiotherapist- but as we have all been in lockdown it may be a while now.

Anyone had a late Walker and did you do any exercises to help them?

I'm so worried I can't sleep at night. Feeling exhausted and guilty.

I wouldn’t worry, I think bum shufflers tend to walk later. My 1st walked at 12 months, 2nd at 16 months and 3rd at 21 months. What was amazing was that I left him at my mums one morning never having taken a step and bum shuffling around to going to collect him after work and he was walking all over the house like he had been doing it for months, no wobbly first steps at all. It won’t do any harm for her to see the physio but I‘m sure she’ll be walking by the time the appt comes through.

Thanks @candle18

I think I've been so worried as my MIL saw her over Skype and was like "oh dear that doesn't look good...she's not walking at 29 months that is a serious concern. She could have weak bones" my DD was standing, but on tip toes, trying to reach for something off the table...

But it still made me anxious.
