Hello there
Just a shoutout to anybody with a 15 month old boy....
a few points listed below I will use to describe him please let me know if normal or not...

  • not saying words yet but understands what we say. Whinges when he can't communicate.
  • very whingey VERY...all day
  • excessive food desire
  • wakes up and literally goes from silence to full tantrum for his milk and breakfast
  • every little thing upsets him into full meltdown
  • hates new things and new people
  • before you say autism he does maintain eye contact and smile in response to smile etc...
  • walking and running but not talking only ever crying or melting down....
  • won't say words when prompted only cries
  • knows word no but defies with knowledge
  • a split second temper emerges over anything

Somebody told Me boys were so chilled out ...

Is this normal???
The above looks negative. He is a darling boy with a loving side who I'm so proud of but I have never experienced such a short tempered rage from somebody so small

Advice- normal or concern?

Nothing sounds overly concerning for his age.... but I am a bit confused by your "before you say autism he does maintain eye contact and smile in response to smile etc..." - I have seen many toddlers with autism that have excellent eye contact and smile back at me when I smile at them. Autism is not "a poor eye contact" disorder or "no social smile" disorder, in many cases those tend to be generalisations and myths.

My 14 month old DS also has a temper and has been having 'tantrums' of sorts for months. He also loves to do something if he knows he's not allowed (it's normal to move through understanding 'no' and then ignoring it'). How much is he eating, when you say 'excessive food desire'? DS has a very good appetite and eats a similar amount to his 3yo sister. And he'd definitely more whingy and grumpy when hungry.
