Hi There,
I am a first time Dad with a three 10 weeks old son. My Neighbs lately are too loud.

What I can hear is:

  1. A kid running (multiple times a day)
  2. A loud impact noise, like you drop some item ( some times every few minutes)

It is annoying but if it is kids i get it. The question my Neighbs have a three year old and a 9month old (walking).
Is this something to expect from kids?

This starts from morning when the kids are up (5.30) and goes during the day.
What is your experience, and how would you approache (if you did)?
I am sensitive to sounds. and now we have infant, I cannot even use radio to mask the noise. Smile

Er, yes. Running about and potentially jumping or sometimes putting things down with a loud bump.

I mean, I would be having a friendly chat over the fence about the possibility of them trying to limit the noise from starting so early if I lived there but if you have a tiny baby yourself, I don't think you have any legs to stand on. I very much suspect your baby crying in the night disturbs them, and, in the blink of an eye, your little one will be running about too.

I get it and it is normal. I do not want to push any kid. although whenever I chatted about our newborn, and asked explicitly if they can hear him cry! they said no. Probably because they are used on the sound and Ignore it.

Kids are kids, but as new parent.. and with no experience in these ages you understand I am asking from your point of view.

their olders is also hyperactive.

The banging sound (putting items hard) is happening all day long, several times an hour. this is also normal right? I am talking about sound which radiates in a whole house (3 floors semi detached).

More likely that they do hear it, but there's nothing you could reasonably do to stop it, so they do the polite thing of saying they don't to protect you from worrying about it.

It sounds like your semi is poorly sound insulated for cross house noises, noise is normal, you approach it by finding a way to ignore, or you move for detached, at least if you're living in a 3 floor semi, that is likely more attainable than many.

Newborns are not as loud as older children. The three year old is probably making most if the noise unless its the parents! Its a difficult situation because everyone is stuck at home and the three year old is probably just doing what three year olds do. If your newborn is getting woken up one thing that might help (if you can get one online at the moment) is a white noise machine for nap times. I had to buy one for my youngest as a newborn because our neighbours embarked on noisy building work at that time. It worked really well at drowning out the noise or making it insignificant enough to sleep through (and the builders and their tools were much louder than most three year olds!
