Please tell me it gets better!

My little one is coming up to 9 weeks old on Thursday. Over the past 3/4 days, he has been clingy, whingey, has been sleeping poorly and just doesn't want to be put down at all! It's really quite draining but also a shame that I haven't got my usual happy, playful baby.

He has his moments where he will be settled and play nicely and will give us his beautiful smiles, but this doesn't last too long. The evenings tend to be

Oops posted too soon!

Evenings tend to be worse.

I even thought that he might have been unwell but he is feeding fine and doing plenty of wet and soiled nappies.

Anybody else have a similar experience at this age? How long does it go on for? Really hoping the light at the end of the tunnel comes soon! Poor thing has his jabs on Friday too which will make him more grouchy no doubt.

This happened after my LOs 8 week jags. I just let him sleep on my chest for a week or so for day naps. It turned out he had reflux though so there was an underlying issue. He got gaviscone and is ok now.

We are coming to the end of our 8 week leap - he’s 10w+1 (app has adjusted for birth date) and once I learnt to embrace the cuddles we were okay. His sleep fluctuated and it’s only on us during the day, his snuz pod at night next to me with at least 5 wake ups 11-6. But, it will get better and it means we will soon have some new lovely milestones to tick off Halo

@LuckiestB my little one is 9+5 today and I've noticed things have settled down already 😊 I've really enjoyed seeing the difference in my little one, he's so much more alert and taking in his surroundings! Makes the fussiness and crankiness so worth it doesn't it?! 🥰

Oh it just gets better and better, every time I struggle it really helps me to think, he’s growing/getting bigger/learning things and I can’t wait to see what. They’re all so individual on what they decide to learn/show. My boy was making sounds very early but no smiles until the last week really, not true ‘back atcha mummy!’ smiles but now we have an amazing chatty smiley creature and it was worth waiting. What is your LO doing that’s making the crankiness worth it? I’m saying that while I hold my angel, who is inconsolable after I moved the shiny cushions into a different order and he was apparently very attached to the order they were in before Grin

@LuckiestB ahh very much the same! I've had smiles from about 6/7 weeks...but this week his smile just seems so much bigger and brighter! And I got my first little giggle this morning too which made me melt! I think I have a right chatterbox on my hands though...he doesnt stop babbling! I'm sure he shouted at me yesterday for trying to pick a bogie from his nose 😂 he's also discovering his hands and feet at the moment too which is adorable. Still not quite there with the neck strength thought, working on increasing tummy time as much as we can each day - he isn't a fan!

Goodness we hate tummy time! Your LO sounds beautiful and I know exactly what you mean by getting shouted at - I get some extremely angry noises about tummy time! We have to do it on my chest, he has super duper neck strength then! On the floor? Face plant! Grin

@LuckiestB Ha sounds exactly the same as my son! They're little rascals aren't they. He has great neck strength when he's over my shoulder and on my chest. The second I put him on his playmat or on his little pillow, he either lays there relaxing or whinges at me until I give in and pick him up! Cheeky things 😊
