FTM in Lockdown - games to play with 12 week old

Hello,

As the title suggests really - I'm a first time mum at home with a 12 week old DS. We obviously can't get to any of the classes we had planned like swimming, baby sensory etc, so trying to improvise at home.

Can you suggest anything we can do or any games we can play with him to help his development or keep him entertained? Peek a boo is becoming a bit repetitive....Confused

Oh you have my total sympathy on not being able to get out to classes or groups with him.

If you have a garden, you could make a cuppa when he's had his first feed and take him outside. Just walk around and show him the plants and anything else you can think of and chat to him. The daylight should help him to sleep too.

I know it's a bit of a MN cliche too but do you have a sling? My DD would happy go on that and just watch me do things like cook the tea, clean the windows etc, so essentially being entertained without much effort from you.

It might be worth getting a treasure basket together, so that you have a little stock of things to hand him to explore. When he can sit, he can explore it himself.

Dancing with him is nice too, try to play the same songs so that he gets used to them.

Don't feel guilty about spending a morning or afternoon in bed with him either, you might never get the chance again Smile

Hey, mum of 11 week old here! Baby massage has kept me connected to him. I have also created different baby mobiles around the house, so he can kick and look at things (leaving him space so he doesn't "have" to look at it but can choose to look or touch if he can. I take this baby mobile with us round the house cos it makes me happy and keeps him happy for hours (shoppompom.com/products/mobile-exotic-birds) and have hung it from a step ladder, the edge of a table, a window sill with a bit of tape. We chat, we read, we sing. Equally, I also figure the world is such a new place, he is often just as happy looking at dust in the sunlight!
