Help!! My baby cries all day everyday

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
My LG is 5 weeks old and from about a week old she has cried all day everyday (some days slightly better than others) she suffered from constipation at first and I was advised to change her milk so we did and everything started to come regularly so I assumed the crying would get better (I was wrong) if anything it got worse, I’ve been to the doctors a number of times once to be told there’s nothing wrong with her and she’s probably just having a “bad day” another thought she might have reflux so prescribed infant gaviscon, this did nothing then the last time the doctors said she might have a cows milk allergy and prescribed aptilmil pepti, if anything this made things worse her feeding went horrendous she wouldn’t take it and screamed even more I tried this for a few days then stopped because she was drinking so much less than normal.
She also seems to cry when trying to poo even though she is going at least once a day.
She also guzzles her bottles down like no tomorrow and gets bad trapped wind and when she feeds she spills a lot out the sides of her mouth and sometimes chokes and coughs.

Ive tried everything from infacol, colief, gripe water , changing to a bigger size teats and paced feeding nothing works

I’m literally at my wits end I’m a first time mum and I can’t help feeling like a massive failure.

Thanks for any advise in advance

I'm not an expert but if she's guzzling her feeds, have you tried a variflow teat? It's probably worth looking up "paced bottle feeding" too.

If she has constipation, it could very well be an allergy.. have a read of this from Allergy UK. If it is an allergy, there are other milk the GP can prescribe.

Has anyone checked her for tongue tie? This wouldn't explain the constipation though.

To try to get her to settle, have a look at the Tiger in the Tree Hold on YouTube. That one usually helps Smile

yeah I’ve tried the tiger in the tree hold, it’s not like she’s constipated because she is going regularly she cries when trying to go and when trumping and she trumps a lot, I did try the milk prescribed by the doctors but she wouldn’t take it and was feeding so much less than normal with it.
Thanks for the advice much appreciated x

If you have a milk she doesn't like, have you tried putting a bit of vanilla essence in it?

I've not done it but I know a few MNers have done it as it makes the milk more palatable.

Hi, I'm sorry you're going through this, my baby was a big crier as a newborn and it was very, very hard. It will get better with time though.

I'd try and look into tongue ties. How has weight gain been? A tongue tie would affect her feeding, especially the milk spilling out.

I'd also try a different bottle type with the slowest test possible - I've heard Dr Brown are meant to be good.

If she is struggling with constipation then gaviscon may make that worse. Ranitidine was helpful for us.

Also, try really thorough winding. I used to sit my little one up and do little circles with their body to get big burps out. You can also try tummy massage, look some up online, and bicycle legs to help release gas.

I hope some of this helps. You will get through it!

My baby was like this also and it was a really tough time. He was breastfed but we tried most of the same things as you and they didnt make much difference. I used to walk with him in a sling which calmed him down but hard to do this in current circumstances I know. I think it was just part of his development - if you google Purple crying this explains what might be happening. It does get better but it is very hard at the time so take turns having a rest with your partner if you can.

Thank you everyone, I’ve just spoken to my health visitor and she said she suspects reflux and advised me to ring the doctors for some omeprazole, spoken to the doctor on the phone and she’s prescribed Ranitidine, fingers crossed it works thanks for all your help I was really feeling it this morning and you’ve all helped thank you so much 😊 xx
