My 4 year old has long blond hair and has just started school. I have not tied it back yet, I was asked to today for PE but really don't want to at any other time. Any one else been asked to in normal class time and what did you do?

my ds chose to have his hair cut rather than tie it back. if they make the girls tie it back then he should too, if not then he shouldnt.

It would depend on the whole school rules.

At DD's school longer hair must be tied back at all times for school. This is a girl's schools o we don't have the boy issue. However, it is were coed, I would expect all children to have to follow the same rules.

loads of the yr 5 boys have long hair 9my ds included). They have to tie it back for PE (as do the girls)
Just a warning, from experience..remember boys tend to roll around together a lot especially at this age so check for nits regularly.

Just one word. NITS. Tie it back.

My ds had a choice in year 1. Cut his hair or tie it back. He chose to have it cut, although it's still collar legnth. I think it really must be up to the child - my nephew told his parents when he was in his 20s that he hated having long hair at school but didn't say anything because he didn't want to upset them!
