Ds 4 still using left and right hand to write ?

My ds is 4 and now started school.
He is still using his left and right hands equally to write.
Both dd`s were very obviously right handed from a much earlier age.
Grandma is a leftie.
I obviuosly dont mind either way but when will i know or does this mean he is always going to swap from one to another ?
Cheers x

My DS is ambidextrous as well (he's nearly 3). His dad was, but apparently got bullied into being right-handed at school, so I will be keeping an eye on DS to make sure he's not pressured either way.

I seem to remember that Bramwell Bronte (brother of the authors) was apparently so ambidextrous that he could write two different letters to two different people at the same time

My ds2 is also 4, just started school and does this. I get the feeling his preference is his left hand but he sees other people using right hand so tries to copy and also when other people have tried to help him it has been with pen in right hand. I am trying to encourage him to use it whatever hand feels comfortable to him.
He is very definitely right footed though!

Madamez at bramwell bronte writing 2 letters at once! How amazing would that be!!
And even bigger at a man being able to do 2 things at once!

DD3 who is just five was like this till about six months ago when she definitely settled on her left. She would just pick up a pen with whichever hand was nearest to it. One way to see what his preference is likely to be is to stand in front of him and hold out a pen to his midpoint and see which hand he uses to reach for it.

ds1 is 8.5, dd1 is 6 and dd2 is 4they all still use both hands

my son did this until he was 6, then favoured his right, my other son is 3.6 and is a definately leftie, and left footer, although he does sometimes use his right hand for certain things.

Grandad was a leftie as well.

Thanks everyone-it seems then that those who take longer to decide are usually lefties ?
It will be nice if we have a leftie-artistic ! ?
