Baby passport photo

Gotta apply for a passport for my LO but I have no idea on how to get her photographed, she can never stay calm once I take my camera, leave alone taking her to some office to be photographed. She starts yelling, laughing, crying or all at once! I have literally no idea on how to get this damned photo. Any advice?

What age? If very small, lie her on a light coloured sheet and take the picture with your phone. Online applications use a digital picture you can upload

From the .Gov site

Photos of babies and children

Children must be on their own in the picture. Babies must not be holding toys or using dummies.

Children under 6 do not have to be looking directly at the camera or have a plain expression.

Children under one do not have to have their eyes open. You can support their head with your hand, but your hand must not be visible in the photo.

Children under one should lie on a plain light-coloured sheet. Take the photo from above.

I'll second what dementedpixie had said, you can use a special baby passport photo program to crop the picture and apply online.

dementedpixie · 19/02/2020 13:18

You dont need to crop when applying online, they crop it for you

Some Timosons shops do baby passport photographs. They lay them on a bean bag thing and take it from above. Pretty sure they offer a money back guarantee of the passport office refuse it. It’s not at all stores though but you can check on their website.

You dont need to go to a store. Do it at home on your phone/tablet

Harrysmummy246 · 20/02/2020 21:31

Take it at home then use Passpic to check and get it printed

DS passport photo is lovely unlike his parents' ones

dementedpixie · 20/02/2020 21:52

You dont need to print it. You take a digital photo as part of the online application. You dont need a physical copy

Late but might be useful for others - had my baby passport picture rejected as the background (plain white bed sheet) was "textured", so smooth out those wrinkles!!!

We needed to get my DS passport as a newborn. He has three citizenships- British , Irish and Canadian ! Irish was the easiest and quickest so we did that one first . The Irish require EYES OPEN! It took 4 attempts but at 17 days old we finally got it 😅

I have no advice but if your little one is upset then walk away and try another time . It’s a lot of work 😩
