Bizzare one for a Monday night --- DS1 lothes his hair being dried - could it be related to his birth?

He's 2.6yrs and has always hated his hair being dried, he's not too keen on his head being touched full stop.
I had a longish labour and he ended up being born by ventouse.
Could this be related to him screaming every time I try to dry his hair??
If so, how can I over come this?

dried how? with a hair dryer?

burstingbug · 03/09/2007 22:17

No, with a towel, he's scared of the hair drier.

craniosacral osteopathy - ots brilliant for quite 'violent' births, as the skull can be subjected to a lot of stress.

i found it brill - had it when ds was 6 weeks and his sleeping settled right away. he had a trapped nerve in his jaw which was causing him pain and to take on wind.

might take a few treatments though with him being slightly older. was he colicky / windy as a baby, do you think maybe he suffers from headaches too ? if so, then i would definiteyl try it.

None of mine can tolerate their hair being dried (all c-sections). I just leave it to air dry.

cranial osteopathy might help.

Ds1 never used to be able to wear hats (or belts etc). We had a sensory programme and he;s fine now. The out of sych child is a cheapo book with a whole range of exercises that might help.

He was a bit colicky, used to take several hours to get him to sleep then up again in the night pacing up and down with him. Finally got him sleeping better when he was 20mths.

Will look into CO and also the book.
Can CO be done on toddlers then? I thought it was for young babies.

no, can be done on all ages but is best used on young babies because it is at it's most effective, quickly - if that makes sense !

i had it done by accident when i was 27 - the chap said to me i must have had a violent birth, as skull all over place - i couldn't understand as i was breech, but now i know that's probably one of the worst possible births for the skull !

had a burst of incredible energy afterwards, it was amazing - and headaches reduced significantly

you can have cranial osteopathy at any age. I had it as a teen and it cured me of persistent migraines.

however, I doubt your son's dislike of hairdrying is anything to do with his birth. some children just don't like it. I never did as a child
