What will your baby eat today?

I'm after a bit of inspiration - something I can give that's not too expensive and easy - like a mashed banana.

Today my 8 month old will probably have-
Breast milk throughout the day.
Baby porridge
A mashed banana
3 or 4 rusks
Yoghurt
Last night's dinner - stuffed pasta.

I don’t have inspiration for you I’m afraid but this is what my 10 month old had today.

Baby porridge
Homemade mac and cheese with veggies
Small pot of custard
Half of a wholemeal roll
Roast dinner (chicken, veg, potato)
Raspberries
Breastmilk whenever she wants it

Is your little one good with finger food? Mine has struggled and only in the last couple of weeks will tolerate things like toast/sandwiches/cut up fruit which has made it easier for quick and easy things now.

Post this in 'feed the world' section, there's a weaning section you'll get some great ideas on there

They pretty much CAN eat anything at this age.as long as you're reasonably careful about salt and obviously anything too spicey for example is unlikely to appeal. I think even the advice on nuts etc is to offer early now.

Our's ate pretty much what we did from a similar age. If it was something with stock (eg spag bol) I just separated the mixture and used baby stock instead and didnt add any salt. Likewise anything spicey such as chilli con carne or chicken fajitas (both favourites with my LO) then I just add the spices such as cumin etc to her's but just a tiny bit of mild chilli powder rather than the full whack. You can adapt most things to be baby friendly in this way. Don't forget to bulk make and freeze some too... no time for pointless cooking when you have an infant! My LO also loves porridge. I jazz it up a bit by mashing a bit of banana in or a few flakes of apple then sprinkling a little cinnamon on the top. For lunch she's a cheese freak (first long sentence was 'I want some more cheese Grin) so it's often just a cheese sarnie but if I feel particularly hipster I'll do her hummous on toast or blitz some avacado and tomato in the food processor and do that on toast. She'll always get some cucumber and pepper strips with her lunch too. I think the trick is not overthinking it too much, giving them time and space to explore their food (free messy play.... yey) and not being put off if they don't eat much as there could be a whole host of reasons they turn their nose up and they need to try things several times before they develop a taste for it.

Good luck and have fun xx

My 15 month old has always loved tinned fish - sardines / mackerel etc. It’s great because it’s such an easy source of protein, requires no cooking. Just open the can, drain oil and tip it in a bowl and mash up a bit. And cheap!

She is always v hungry in the mornings so for breakfast had:
Half a tin of mackerel, weetabix and raisins

Lunch: Ham / cheese / grated carrot wrapped in readymade puff pastry - like a little pasty

Tea: shepherds pie I’d batch cooked and froze, banana and an organix carrot cake bar thing

Milk before bed
