Daughter being diagnosed with asd, what would have been asbergers

My 7yo daughter is in the middle of a diagnosis for asd... What would have been called asbergers. I felt like I was on my own, the school missed it all, as autism in girls can easily be missed. The thing is she takes a lot of care through the day and moreso at night. I have applied for dla but I'm worried that the dla people will get in touch with the school, who as I said before are clueless. I don't need theinet but it would be for her to do more social things such as drama club and dancing... Things to push her out of her bubble if that makes sense x

Without looking like a pain in the butt, this post is more to see 8f anyone else has aspie girls and how they approached a school that didn't pick up any concerns

My dd has been assessed and said she might be in the spectrum but can’t 100 per cent say. She’s just joined a drama club, first day and said she had quite a few melt downs. She said it was because she’s scared but they said they can’t have that sort of behaviour. My Dh is livid as it’s the first day she’s gone and so much for be yourself be amazing! Day to day you wouldn’t know but I’m sad she’s still showing behaviour that got her referred by the school. Her current teacher doesn’t believe she has it as you wouldn’t really know. But she definitely is sensory and has some issues. I hope you get the support you need. Certainly were on the same journey

Have you tried asking in the Special Needs section? There are lots of MNers with experience in there Smile

My DD is Aspie but it was obvious at school as her high anxiety causes behaviour problems. She has DLA and as far as I am aware they have never contacted school for evidence. It is based on her additional care needs rather than her diagnosis. I have used her DLA for private swimming lessons and a maths tutor (maths causes her massive anxiety and literacy is where her strengths lie).
