From September my dcs are going to different schools. We live in the back of beyond (and let me be a warning to any mumsnetters thinking of moving to the country - the wonderful bits are fab - but there are serious downsides) and dd will have to be at her bus stop ten minutes drive away at 7.40. Mostly, dp will be around so there's no problem, but on the days when he isn't, would you leave a very sensible 6.5 year old alone watching TV for 20 minutes while you dropped dd at the bus? Or would you bundle him into the car and take him too?

No, I'd take him with me. 20 minutes is a long time to be completely off the premises.

BettySpaghetti · 29/08/2007 11:08

take him -you never know what could happen on that 20min journey to delay you, or what could happen back at the house.

flightattendant · 29/08/2007 11:10

I'd take him. Seriously. He'd probably be fine alone but I think it's illegal and also I'd be worrying about it if I got held up etc - better if driving to have your head all in the same place, iyswim, rather than split between what you're doing and what's going on at home.

Yes - ~I would take him too. I asked just in case everyone else said "No - it's fine to leave him, don't worry!" Bother. I would be always worrying about the car breaking down or something. Thank you all for agreeing with me!

I would take all the children with me.

Tinker · 29/08/2007 15:42

I'd take a 6.5 year old

Smithagain · 29/08/2007 18:41

I would take him, primarily because you might be horribly delayed and it would be horrible for him to be at home wondering where you are.

And he just might do something daft, if he's like any other six year old I know.

Take him with you, even if he is still in his p-js with a piece of toast in one hand...the chances are you will be too

ktmoomoo · 29/08/2007 18:45

id take him with you
