Has anyone tried this singing/musical instrument class at all? I took DS this morning to his first (he's 17 months) and he hated it. Sat there screaming and in the end we left .
It all seemed a bit too loud for me (and him!!) and they sang songs that were totally unknown to us....anyone had good reviews?? I am debating whether to take him again next week or to leave it all together.......

We had a great time at Jo Jingles but DS was 2 and most of the babies were younger and TBH I wondered why they were there as most were too small (it seems) to enjoy themselves. DS had so much fun that I bought him the video... DD loves it too.
So yes it can be great but he may be too young ?

poppyseed,I would love to take my ds (2yrs) to this but htere isn't one in my area.
I would probably wait a bit then take him in a few months and if he still hates it give up.

I took my ds to tumbletots last week,we hadn't been for months and he hated it.Refused to particpate ,and wouldn't take his shoes off.Slightly embarassing but hey he's only two.

My DD has been going to this since she was about 10 months old and loved it. Did you go to a baby class - they run them differently for different age groups.

thanks sexyandhappy (love your name!!)
Perhaps he is too young. Ikwym about the little babies - there were a lot there today, in fact DS was probably the oldest there - didn't set a very good example!!!

Pandabear - no I didn't take him to a baby class as this is a new class in our area, so I didn't get the chance unfortunately!! I think that I may leave it and try again in a few months - the only thing is I have paid up front for this course . I was thinking about tumbletots, but if he decides that he hates that too I really will have wasted a load of money and messed people about!!

I don't know if you have "Music with mummy" in your area. You can find out if you stick it into Google. I have found that a bit more gentle than Jo Jingles and usually the groups are smaller. I think the music is a bit better as well. Also not such a hard sell on the merchandising

My dd is 17 months and seems to enjoy Jo Jingles. She's quite shy, but usually participates a little bit and by the end of last term she was getting stuck in. Maybe give it another go and then decide.

Another vote for Music with Mummy - we've been going since dd was 7 months (now nearly 2)and we love it. Because the groups are small (about 8 max) the children really get to know each other (and the mums do too!)and it is probably less intimidating for little ones.
They have a website so you could check if there is one in your area. Tends to be in peoples' home, not church halls etc. - also more friendly for little ones.

we go to JJ and both DDs enjoyed it. Obviously every kid is different but is it possible it was just the newness of it all putting him off? Is it worth trying for a couple more weeks to see if he gets into it and starts to enjoy the songs?

My dd (18 months) has just been to her second Jo Jinlges class. We started at Monkey Music but that was a problem because they expected her to sit still... yeah right? Like that's gonna happen!! Anyway, her first Jo Jingles class was okay. She still wanted to move around, but it was better tolerated. Then, this week she went to the second class and she participated more. Had a good time. I think she just need a bit of time to explore and settle into the music class scene.
