For a couple of days DS2, age 2, has been putting Duplo bricks together and making towers. With number 1 the Grandparents would have been texted, Daddy phoned at work and exactly how many bricks done would have been noted in his baby book and diary. With number 3 it has taken me a couplke of days to realise how clever the little monkey is.

Yes, my dad still has a text I sent him when ds1 rolled over! ROFL!!! That was 6 years ago btw and I have 2 more children now!

kickassangel · 22/08/2007 17:55

oh lordy, i have a precious only one & would never even have thought to do all that - i truly am lacking in that area of motherhood. still, enjoy having a clever monkey. watch that ds doesn't find other places to put the duplo!

As a friend of mine says,
"baby number one, wrapped up in cotton wool,
number two, use baby wipes,
number three, leave them in a corner with a flash wipe and let them get on with it....."

cornsilk · 22/08/2007 17:56

I am embarrassed at the memory of phoning my sister to tell her when ds1 said 'dada.'

Child no 1 swallows a pound and you rush them to emergency.
child no 2 swallows a pound and you wait to see if it comes out the other end.
child no 3 swallows a pound and you take it out their pocket money

NAB3 · 22/08/2007 18:20

That is hilarious!!!!

sure this is old but:

Child 1 drops his dummy and you wash and sterilise it
Child 2 drops his dummy and you run it under the tap
Child 3 has to take it out of the dog's mouth himself

(from some parenting book!)

lucyellensmum · 22/08/2007 18:23

mog - that is fuuuuuuny

I remember a nanny posting on here on someone's PFB childcare thread saying 'by the time you get to number 3 you'll leave them with the milkman just to get some peace' and I read (having just had number 3 at the time) and thought 'how true'.

DS3 looks at the walls, points at the photos and says 'is that me mummy?' Of course not, they're all ds1

My nanny friend has 1 little baby to look after and he is a very PFB!

a few weeks ago he did his first poo on the potty.

She delt with it, then texted mummy and daddy to let them know the news

Daddy immediatly called her back and asked have you taken a photo of it

(she said "no sorry, ive flushed it down the loo" )

ROFL Mog!

Wallace · 23/08/2007 07:24

ROFL

I was going to start a thread with this title. My post was this:

You know it is your third child when your 1 year old is riding his bike towards the steps at the back door that go down to the garden. Instead of rushing to remove your darling from this danger, you think to yourself "hmm, I wonder if he will stop before he gets to the steps" Then return your attention to mumsnet

KTeePee · 23/08/2007 08:25

With child no. 1 you take them to Tumble Tots, Music classes, etc.

Child No 2 you take to toddler group and spend the whole time ignoring them and chatting with your friends.

Child no. 3 gets to go to the supermarket

JodieG1 · 23/08/2007 08:29

Lol KTeePee that one is so true for me although I didn't bother with the toddler groups.

I'm still as excited when ds2 does new things as when dd and ds1 did but that's just the way I am.

berolina · 23/08/2007 08:47

I never did the ominous Groups, not even with my PFB. Photo-, album- and diary-wise, though, I went positively loopy.
