Constipation - movicol experts needed!

Hi am really hoping someone can help me. My six and a half month old baby has not been for a poo for 11 days. She hasn't been in pain or anything until today, when she started screaming, sobbing and straining and then I realised she hasn't been for ages (I now feel terrible about this). She screams and sobs and then passes quite a small solid poo. It's really distressing to watch. I've just got back from CHOCS (out of hours doctor) and he prescribed movicol but I'm not sure how much to dissolve the half a sachet in - I think he said 200 mls but there is no way I'll be able to get her to drink 200 mls of water - and I don't think a six month old should be drinking that much water anyway?? The instructions on the box say 60 mls for a full sachet, but that is for 2-5 year olds...I'm completely confused. At the moment she's asleep but I'm dreading when she wakes up and is in pain again. If anyone has any advice I would hugely appreciate it. She is exclusively breast fed, won't take a bottle at all although she will drink from a cup. We started weaning three weeks ago and I'm guessing this is why this has happened so am going to cut out all the foods that could be causing it

I'm no movicol expert but I did have a constipated baby at weaning.
I tried a variety of different foods, I found prunes really helped which they do in pouches, weetabix and also if you are breastfeeding make sure you eat lots of fruit and veg and drink lots of water as that will help.
It did get easier for us but I know its horrible to see them in pain.

Thank you for reply. Do you think I should try prunes etc now or go back to just breastfeeding until this blockage has passed? Not sure what the best thing is to do.

My son is on Movicol. He is 13.5 months old and has been on Movicol since around 8 months due to constipation. He is on half a sachet a day mixed with 50ml of water. When he had a full sachet I'm pretty sure he only had 65ml of water with it. We leave it to dissolve for 5 mins or so then he drinks it. We reduced it to half a sachet a day and find thst does the trick. Ultimately we want to get him off it but the doctors say it's more important that he doesn't end up withholding stools so to reduce it incredibly gradually. We think he has a lazy/sluggish bowel. We didn't actually find any usual remedies helped - prunes, juice etc didn't seem to make a difference. Laculose was no use either as it deals with a slightly difference issue apparently. Movicol is the only thing that worked with my son. He is cmpa though and (still) on prescription formula and I think he struggles digesting that. Mind you, he had trouble pooping even when on breastmilk, despite his stools being soft/runny so who knows!

Hope that helps a bit.

@surreygirl1987 is there any update with your child? My son is the exact same as yours. He’s currently 8 months
