Hi - my son learnt to roll back to front at 3 months and since then does it literally every time you put him on his back. I don’t think he’s ever stayed on his back for more than 5 seconds unless there’s a toy right above him. During the day and playtime it’s fine because he’s getting loads of tummy time but the issue is nap time and overnight. He likes to sleep on his side but not his front, however while he’s falling asleep he tries to roll onto his front. If he succeeds it makes him cry, but also if you stop him it makes him cry. I don’t think he knows he’s doing it - it’s more like a compulsion.
I know they say it takes a while once they learn a new skill to get over the fact they can do it, but 3 months of rolling is this still the case?
Also I cannot see anyway that he will naturally fall asleep by himself in his cot because he’s trying to roll so much. Currently for nap times I put him in the cot but stand with a hand on him to stop him rolling, but this can’t continue forever! Any tips to try and stop him rolling? We’ve tried putting towels up against him but as he likes to sleep on his side he just rolls on top of the towels
