Because DS turned 3 last month & just runs everywhere....every trip out ends in a huge row with me & DH usually because we end up so exhausted from chasing after DS. He has so much energy, so much curiosity and far too much confidence & just doesn't stop...EVER! Wouldn't be too bad but is is fast as hell...as soon as he is old enough he will be joining the local athelics club as I think he's got the speed gene from his father's side of the family (3 generations of runners )...but in the meantime it's basically just me looking very unfit trying to keep up with him. He at least doesn't run out into the road anymore... but is quite happy to run in & out of shops...usually while I am queuing to pay

Someone please tell me that this will end sometime & one day I will be able to enjoy eating out without having to basically tie him to a chair & wolf down my meal before he escapes

aw cute, do you have any local soft play type sessions? or big fields

HonoriaGlossop · 12/08/2007 23:07

so reminds me of ds. i think this stopped more or less when ds was four. He suddenly seemed to slow down and lost his allergy to holding hands.

Reins in shops/areas where he might run into roads were a necessity for me. With kids like this you can't underestimate their sheer SPEED and their utter disregard for whether or not a parent is being left half a mile behind!

Big fields yes - live in rural village & he gets the run of it as well as running around the allotment site several times a week....soft play is not possible atm due to financial resrtictions....

Reins/wrist strap he hasn't tolerated for nearly a year now - like I said far to independent for his own good

dd2 stood up at 11 months, then mastered running and she hasn't stopped since. She's also 3 and does everything that you've said you ds does.
My dh has plans to put her into the local running team once she's old enough, lol
sorry no help but glad to hear my dd isn't the only one who likes to take off at 100 miles an hour.

4, who are you kidding. DS is nearly 6 and runs every where. I have lost sight of him loads because he runs to school, and is always hidding behind a wall a school ready to jump out on me. I HAD to lose weight and get fit to keep up with him. I often think of Forest Gump on 'school runs'. Sorry probably not what you want to hear, but you are not on your own.
