Hi, my son is 2.3 years seems to have hit a stage of separation anxiety and can get quite tearful when I leave him at nursery he will walk in to nursery show he wants to be picked up for a cuddle and kiss then it's a hit and miss situation to how mu leavening can go some days he goes to his key worker without a bat of an eyelid and other days he sobs and can get quite upset at my leaving. I have never returned to comfort him as I know this will make it worse on him when I leave, nursery say he settles after a few minutes. It's not the going to nursery that's the problem but me leaving, hes been attending for well over a year now so hoping it's just a phase that hes going through. At home he can self soothe fine without a problem and he apparently struggles to do this nursery, he has delayed speech due to glue ear and is usually alot more quiet at nursery compared to at home, this can be put down to his glue ear problems. Is there anything I can do to help him through this point in his development?

The idea of Nursery is to make the transistion into main school as less stressful to DC as possible. With DS being 2.4YO sensitive nurturing is required, and dont forget if they are a bit tired, or a bit peaky that will make it worse. Your right not to go back, they do settle down quickly afterwards. Ensure you talk to DS beforehand, about seeing his friends at the nursery, and the sort of things they will be doing. Try leaving him to play alone in a safe room at home to bolster his confidence. He will turn out fine, they all do.
