Food and tv?

Can I ask advice pls? Is it naughty that my 18 month old eats dinner while watching tv? Be honest..because what tends to happen is he was beginning to Chuck his food everywhere Cos I think after being awake from 12 till 5.30 he’s tired. So I put the tv on, sit him next to me and hand him dinner one by one so half a fish finger, half a waffle etc and Cos he’s enjoying the baby tv he even let’s me pop peas in his mouth!! Whereas usually he wouldn’t. So in that respect is it bad that he enjoys the tv so much that dinner time is a breeze?

@inspector1983 it's not ideal but at times I do the same, 18 months is still very young, have you tried a book with sound instead of tv? Don't be too hard on yourself, mealtimes were very stressful in our house until around 3-4 years old Grin

No I've not tried a book yet that's a good idea

Just curious why is a book a better distraction than a TV? I think having him relaxed and eating whilst watching TV is fine. I would think about trying other options (maybe book) so that you're not reliant on the TV. I often turn eating into a game where we pass food back and forth and fee each other. However my 15m ds is not the best eater so what do I know. I will however be trying TV to see if that works xx

@Napmum I find books better as it's more focussed and one to one time rather than just staring at the screen.

I got into the habit of using tv to help my girls eat and it got to the stage they wouldn't eat without it, plus our tv is in the living room and we try not to eat in there.
