Not sure whether to worry about this aspect of DD's speech

DD is very nearly 4 and in recent months has started talking in quite a high pitch voice and elongating words, ie 'I can't' becomes 'I caaaan't'. At first it was quite cute but it seems to be becoming more obvious and a bit annoying! Also, she speaks with a sort of country accent that none of the rest of us have and she keeps saying words which we can't understand. The other night she seemed to be saying 'wan' which I thought could mean 'one' but it turned out (in the morning - I was too frustrated to keep trying to understand her) that she was saying 'when'. Then today she was saying 'bird' but it sounded like 'bad'.

She starts school in September and I'm worried the teacher might not understand her sometimes. She has had her hearing tested last week due to recurrent ear infections and it was ok, although her hearing varies. She is now going to have grommits fitted and possibly her adenoids out. I don't know if this may be affecting her speech. any advice greatly appreciated!

I wonder if its just a phase, of her learning that she can make different sounds and try them out?
Ds1 is 2.7 and has recently started talking like Arkwright off open all hours - wah wah wah what you doing? Woo wooo wooo where you going. mer mer mer mummy etc etc.
Nursery manager said its just a phase.
I keep expecting him to say g g g granville!!

My DS behaved a bit 'funny' before he had his grommets, it may just be her way of dealing with an unknown and worrying situation along with starting school.
My DD is 3.5 and talks in so many different voices that sometimes i don't recognise it's her talking. yesterday iwas almost convinced she had sneaked a friend into her bedroom as i heard a conversation going on apprently between 2 people. i have put it dowm to an active imagination and pleasure that she can change her voice....either that or her imaginary friend is in fact real

Let's hope she grows out of it! I'm sure her teacher will mention it if she has any problems.
