Baby waking early

Hi there,

My daughter who is 9 months today constantly wakes between 4.30am and 5am every morning.

I usually get up between 5.20 and 5.30am play with her and then give her milk around 5.45 -6am. She’ll go back down for a short nap between 6.30 and 7am and wake up at about 8am.

Anyone know anything I can try to get her to stay asleep longer - ideally until 6 or 7am and then she wouldn’t need the nap before breakfast anymore?

Thanks
Nx

No real advice. I have the same and it's exhausting. I have spoken to two health visitors and the both suggested that I think myself lucky that o don't have any night waking!

I had this too. The blackout curtains helped. But she just grew out of it. I didn't play with my girl I just gave her the milk and tried to pretend it was still night!
Try just give her the milk straightaway and settle her back down. I used to put my DD in one of those rocking chairs on the floor and rock it with my foot in the hopes she would go back to sleep!

Both mine were like this. It'll gradually get better but the only thing that really helped was me accepting that there's nothing I can do to change it.

Thanks for your replies so far.

It's nice to know I'm not alone and also comforting that it all sounds normal and she'll get there in the end.

I have the same with ds1- now 21months. Nothing, absolutely nothing I did helped! So now I accept it, and go to bed early myself. At least now he can generally happily entertain himself in cot from 515-545/6am....

I was just going to ask what age the babies were that grew out of it - 21 months sounds tough. At the moment we are in a one bed flat so hoping when we move somewhere bigger and she has her own room she may stay in her cot amusing herself in the mornings! Smile

It's OK, it's really not so bad. You get lots done in the mornings - never a rush to meet people! And I'm hopeful this will mean the lovely two hour lunch time nap will last for a long time Smile he is great in terms of going to sleep and staying asleep, so I have learned to adapt
