Can an average almost 7 yr old sleep in a normal bed without falling out of it constantly?

My db was like this - he did get a bunk bed in the end but it had very high sides

I would hate to be his dp - I bet he still flings himself all over the place

DD2 is 7 in September and is the same. I don't have a bed guard but she has a 4' wide bed, and still falls out of it occasionally. I'm starting to think it may be safer to put ds on the top bunk at 2 than move her up when they have to share rooms

My DB was the same, and managed to sleep in a highsleeper from the age of about 6. I was pretty bad too - had to go into school at the age of about 12 with a fat lip cos I'd fallen out of bed (used to thrash about, lose my duvet and go looking for it, but that night I 'walked' on my knees straight off the bed).

I quite often fell out of my bed and did my fair bit of sleepwalking until the age of 15 I think.

Once I even fell out of a three tiered bunk bed on to a bunch of chairs, got up and climbed back into bed again, or so I was told. Not one single bruise did I get though.

I am sure she will grow out of it at some point.

dh was apparently like this, and spent years sleeping on the floor by choice ds is only 2.2 and hence in a cot, but is rather, er, mobile in his sleep

Oh dear . Best cut down on the RedBull and coffee for her nightcap then .

Would a wide single be better, may be giver her more space.

surely the majority of 7yo's wouldn't fall out though - only those really wriggly wormy ones?

My dd is 7 and has only fallen out of bed a few times in her normal bed. In a caravan bed she has taken a few tumbles out as she tends to just roll over.... and over.... and over until she rolls right off the bed. Mind I think the dozens of soft toys and comics in her bed at home probably keep her wedged in ok . Would it help to put blankets on her and wedge them in tightly around her?
