Baby constantly pooping

My 8 week old baby is constantly pooping - the health visitor and doctor both say it is fine for breastfed babies to poop a lot and that it will all settle down but it's getting to the point where she constantly has a dirty nappy and all I'm doing is changing nappies. I'm afraid to breastfeed in public because I know it will be followed by the dreaded "poonami". She is gaining lots of weight and eating well but she isn't sleeping well because I've got to get her up to change her. Plus she hates being changed! She's had horrible nappy rash for most of her short life and although we use barrier cream and keep her nappy free we are still having to wipe poop off her (with cotton and water) as it just seems to pour out of her. I even had a pipe dream of using reusable nappies but there aren't enough to cope with a day and my washing machine might blow up from overuse. Any ideas on how to cope?

Hi There LizS16.

That sounds really tough - we're sorry to hear what you're dealing with right now.
Sadly, we're no expert in babys' bowel movements but we wanted to jump in to say hello and bump your thread for you.

Hopefully some of our supportive users will be along soon to give you some sound advice.
