Should I be worried about my babies development?

Hi, so my daughter is 8 months old in 6 days, she started sitting up assisted quite early, around 6 months old she could sit up for a few seconds but then fall, by 6 and a half months she could sit up unassisted for long periods... she has always hated tummy time, I do try and put her on her tummy as much as I can but she just buries her face into the couch/floor/bed and cries and cries, I try leaving her for a couple minutes and holding toys in front of her etc. But she just cries and gets really upset but is fine once I pick her up into the sitting position, because she hates being on her tummy she also won’t roll, she sleeps on her side at night and I have seen her roll onto her tummy before but she just won’t roll, when on her belly she shows no signs of wanting to crawl, she can lift her head up well but won’t attempt to move at all, she can bear weight on her feet really well, she won’t physically pull herself up on things or even try to pull herself up, but holding my hands she will stand amazing and will pull herself up when holding my hands, also she will hold onto the couch stood up if I put her there, she also doesn’t copy expressions? She doesn’t point or wave or stick her tongue out when I do etc.. she has started clapping when copying us, I just don’t know wether to be worried, I have friends who have babies the same age and all there babies are crawling etc..

It is very early to be crawling.
Also, some babies never do crawl.
Equally it is very young to be trying to pull self up.
I can't remember now, re rolling - someone will no doubt be along soon whose dc are a lot littler than mine.

Try not to worry - all babies do things at different stages. Any developmental check or profile doesn't say "At 6 months the baby will...." or "At 9 months the baby will ...", They say "between 0 and 11 months, we'd expect the baby to be doing most of these things" etc.

Somoen else's baby starting to do something ahead of yours has absolutely no bearing on how they will be walking / talking / standing/ running jumping / playing / making friends when they are 4 or 5, let alone when they are teenagers or adults.

Hi my son was born at 34 weeks and is currently 9.5 months by actual birth but 8 months by due date.

He is not rolling, or sitting for too long. He gets upset and most of the times wants to lie down and kick feet. He moves his hands and feet very well.
He is also not fully holding his bottle to feed.

I am worried as he refuses to sit for long or roll.

Some babies prefer to be on their front including sleeping and some don't. Those that don't like being on their front are normally slower to crawl, purely through lack of practice.

At 8 months, I would be very surprised if a baby that didn't like being on their front was crawling already, so try not to worry.

It may help her if you put a rolled up towel across her chest and under her arms whilst she is in a superman position for tummy time. This takes some of the weight off her arms and stomach. When she is comfortable like that you can also grab her hips and lift them up very slightly. You don't want to do all of the work for her, but if you do some of it then naturally they try to do the rest and bring their knees up.

She sounds perfectly normal to me! For a start it is very early to be pointing and waving at 7 months, they are more 9-12 month + skills. It's actually really good that she's clapping at that age too, probably because she spends a lot of time sitting so her hands are free for fine motor development. Fwiw ds was an early sitter who was not a fan of tummy time so I think it took him longer to develop the arm strength needed for crawling. He could roll from his back to his front at 6 months and once he could put himself there he tolerated tummy a lot more. He didn't learn to roll back until he was 8 months and never raised himself up on extended arms and I was beginning to really worry that something was wrong with his arms/shoulders. Then at 9.5 months he suddenly worked out that he could inch his way forward in a very laborious worm crawl which must have done wonders for his arm strength because within a week he was crawling on all fours like a pro! Something must have just clicked that arms could be used for balance and propulsion as well as picking stuff up because he's 10.5 months now and he's pulling up and cruising the furniture like a speed demon! Some babies just pick things up later than others, he's now on the exact same level as his little friends that were crawling at 6 months.. I'm sure your dd will be fine, she sounds perfectly on track for her age!

Oh just realised this is a zombie thread 🙄

Hi!
She sounds completely normal to me! My daughter hated tummy time too. She didn't make moves to crawl until 8.5 months and didnt properly crawl until after 9, and i was quite happy with that - thinking it was quite quick! It's mad how different they all are. My little girl couldn't clap until 11 months either. I think she'll be just fine.
