Hi

I've just been at the HV and has suggested giving my LO (2years) some simple chores to do. Just want to ask what everyone else gets their 2 year old to do?

Change toilet roll, put things in bin for me.

Nothing serious at that age and no pestering for them to do it

My son will turn 2 soon and these are the things he currently does regularly - most of them since about half a year. At least the stuff I can think of right now:

Puts clothes in the laundry basket
Puts clothes in the washing machine
Brings me clean cloths to hang up (we don't have a basket for clean laundry, we just carry it to the clothesline
Puts things in the bin
Cleans up his toys
Puts his plates (plastic) and cutlery in the sink
Puts things on the table (cutlery, food)
Puts clean dishes away
Waters plants
Puts his shoes away
Puts clean clothes away
Brings bags when I clean out the cat toilet

I think they do it alongside you. They polish with a yellow duster, they find the dark socks from the laundry, they find a fork to put in each place setting, they post letters in the letterbox etc.

My 17 month old puts things in the bin for me when I ask, brushes the floor with a little brush and loves wiping things with a cloth. She will put the washing up away in the cupboard and puts individual items of washing in the machine. It’s just a game to her though rather than a chore as such and she’s picked most of it up by copying me.

Thanks for all your replies! She does some of theses things already but will be adding to the list. Smile
