Is there a name/term for this?

Didn’t t want to put this in gifted/talented as my son certainly isn’t. However he has an incredible memory and one example of this is the ability to tell you the day that a date occurred that might be a year or more ago.

For example if I ask him when his birthday was in 2018 he can tell me both the day along with the date, same with his brothers birthday, a random school trip, Father’s Day, Christmas Day etc etc. He is 6 years old.

I just wonder if it has a name. It reminds me a bit of the film Rainman where he counted cards. We did try and see if he could memorise the order of some playing cards but unfortunately not. No Vegas for us! 😬

Time-space synasthesia?

Have you asked him/can he explain how he knows? I.e can he see the dates?

If this is the case, it may not have occurred to him that not everyone sees time so he may not have explained it! (I have number form synasthesia and didn't realise until I was in my 30s that other people don't see numbers!)

Interesting. I did ask him but he said he didn’t know. He can’t tell you info about my birthday or his dads as those days kind of passed him by. It has to be a day that meant something to him.

I tried another memory test today as his brother cane out of pre school today having played a game where they have say six things on a tray. One gets taken away under a tee towel and then when the towel is lifted they have to see which object has disappeared. My three year old was better than my six year old!!! So he certainly doesn’t have a fantastic visual memory.
