Tummy time no no

My little one will be 5 months old next week and I feel he isn't where he should be...I'm a first time mum, so kinda winging it, but worrying I'm doing things wrong.

From the very first time we did Timmy time, he hated it!
I tried and tried, on a blanket rolled, on sofa, tummy time roller, on changing mat, on play mat but he just hates it...

I spoke to his physio and she said can be normal if baby has reflux...she showed me a technique to get him into belly, rather than putting him down in belly, and it does seem to work better in not upsetting him from her go. Trouble is, he won't stay there long...he is only lifting his head because he is propped on his arms (from technique showed) I'm worrying that by now he should be lifting head and chest fully off the ground and he isn't 😩
Has anyone else had this and their little one go on to catch up?

When sat on my lap he has reasonably good head control, turns side to side and follows people...may have the occasional head bob, but usually tired.

I guess I worry as in my pregnancy I didn't have my Thyroxine upped until 17 weeks pregnant, and my consultant went into a melt down, and was saying things like it may have effected babies brain development...so I'm now worrying he isn't meeting milestones and could it be a result of that 😩

Do tummy time on your lap rather than in the floor, and just put him on the floor in any position he likes. Plenty of babies hate tummy time anyway and it never used to be a 'thing' and babies developed normally. If he has reflux you could always try a wedge shaped pillow and put him on his tummy there with arms and head at the top to build core strength.

a nice way to do this is as follows:

You lie on your back with your knees & hips bent. Baby is lying on your shins. So as you are on your back, the baby is kind of above your tummy IYSWIM. You can hold baby's hands and have lots of eye contact and make faces. You can also use your hips and knees to make sure baby is comforatable if totally horizontal doesn't suit him. You can also move a bit so it is fun and distracting for your babe.

try and let us know how it goes. X
