8yr is being put on reduced timetable at school

I am deeply concerned that my grandson's school is suggesting that he be put on a reduced timetable for persistent bad behaviour.

I cannot see what benefit this will have in changing his behaviour - not listening to his teacher and doing what he please. He is 8 years old.

Can someone give me an insiders or experienced view please?

We're bumping this for you in case anyone can help. We can also move it to Primary Education section if you would like us to?

I was under the impression that when l child is put on a reduced timetable is not for his benefit but for the benefit of the other children as he is disrupting the other children's learning. It is normally the parents responsibility to deal and manage their child's behaviour, not the schools (unless the child is under special needs).

School probably think the parents will try harder to discipline (blaming parents), thinking the parents wont be happy with them being at home.
However it is really hard to find what motivates young kids. And consequences are far removed when at school.

My kids would be happy to come home early.

I believe that the school is acting illegally as they are obliged to deliver a certain number of hours of education per week.

Has the child been assessed?
