Jittery/shaky 10 day old?

Ds was born via c section 10 days ago, he initially had low blood sugar which was ok after a few hours of extra feeding. Since we've been home I noticed these random jittery episodes where his lip quivers as does his arms/legs...it last a couple of seconds each time.

I've mentioned it to 2 different midwives who both said nothing to worry about, any ideas? Should I go the GP on Monday? Thanks

My middle son was very shaky for the first few weeks. I can't quite remember the exact detail but recall his arms seemed very quivery and uncoordinated. DS1 had myoclonic jerks when sleeping where an arm or leg would tremor for a short time. Both were put down to babies having an immature nervous system and they grew out of it.

My DS had a chin quiver and trembly arms for the first few months (actually he still got the occasional chin quiver many many months later) and it’s related to having a very immature nervous system. This was confirmed by GP and health visitor (I was an anxious new mum! ☺️)

Hi op, can you video him when he is jittery? So you have something to show a medical professional if you ever need to.
It is really normal, because as people have already said, the nervous system is v immature. But my ds had an illness which caused low blood sugar so if it keeps happening it might be worth getting his blood sugar tested again. But low blood sugar just after birth is also common and my ds’ illness was VERY VERY rare, so I really am only mentioning it on the off chance and my ds is fine now, so please don’t worry.

my little one also used to do this and I think its quite normal. Although sometimes shaking can be low blood sugar as my baby did it when my milk hadn’t come in. Is he/she feeding well? X

@Donhill what is the illness called?

Ds, now 8 weeks old had some sort of seizure on Friday, rang 111 and they sent an ambulance. Ds' blood sugar was 2. Had to stay a night in hospital and it did go back up, 4.8, 6.2, 5.4 but the paeds were scratching their head a bit. He also had mottled skin.

Can you tell me a little more about your ds' condition please.

Hi op, oh i’m sorry to hear that. That must have been scary. I’ll try and send you a pm (just because the illness is rare so it is a bit outing if I name it!).
