dd2 just got out of bed (she hasnt been alseep yet) gave her dad a cuddle then went back to bed. on the way she ran into the door. She is always doing this, and altho rarely hurts herself she is covered in bruises from running into things and bouncing off things etc.
The other day at Ikea she got off her chair and ran into someones trolly. they were all panicy and rushed to pick her up, whereas she just gave me a grin and enjoyed them fussing over her.

DD is 2y 5m and she is also accident prone and is forever banging into things, tripping over (blame her pigeon toes - takes after daddy!), and is aways covered in bruises and little scrapes.

She even managed to trip over in Manchester airport and landed ont he floor smacking her forehead nastily hard ontthe side of the security scanners. I have never seen so many securoty guards move so quickly to grab her and try and soothe her.

How old's your DD?

GeorginaA · 12/09/2004 21:41

looks at bruises on her shins ... um, I'll tell you what age I am when I stop, okay?

misdee · 12/09/2004 21:43

she is just 2. dd1 is so co-ordinated, but remember her being a bit clumsy at this age but not as much. i do find it a bit funny when other poeple rush over to help her and she just grins at them. she doesnt notice most of the time she has hurt herself, so i have to check for cuts etc as she wont make a fuss about them and once one did get infected as i didnt notice it soon enough.

LOL Georgina. I am also clumsy too, but normally with things like burning myself on the oven, or cuttng my finger when preparing veggies. Maybe it runs in families!

misdee · 12/09/2004 21:44

Ovens... yes they're evil too.

I think it's something to do with the fact I'm short-sighted - not necessarily the short-sightedness bit, but because I don't rely on my sight to give me all the information. As a result depth perception etc, is a bit poor because I don't really use it much.

I would imagine when you're very little, that the same thing applies - you're still new to the world and not processing all the information your eyes supply very well. It's all a learning process.

That's my pop-psychology, randomly talking out of my *rse post for the day, anyway.

misdee · 12/09/2004 21:49

i can fall over nothing tho. used to be a pain in the *rse when i was raving as i always landed on a heap on the floor before we got to the club. hope dd2 wont be as bad as me really.

Someone I know (a MNetter actually) once suggested to me is that when little children are growning all the time and sometimes their brains can't keep up with their body (or limbs particularly) changes - so co-ordination can be out every so often, especially after growth spurts. Which does make sense.

Georgina - my friends once bought me an oven glove that came right up your arm, over your elbows. I am so well known for my clumsiness. Must have lost ot when we moved actually as no idea where it is now.

GeorginaA · 12/09/2004 21:52

misdee - that's the alcohol, hth

misdee · 12/09/2004 21:53

nah, that was before we even got there so i hadnt been drinking. was a long standing jk between friends that i was always p*ssed before we got to the club tho. used to drink more the day after at after parties. safer drinking when sitting down lol.

i do know that i'm more clumsy withiout my glasses. my eyes dont focus on the same point so i feel a bit off without my glasses. only found this out at an eye check 3yrs ago. dd2 eyes are checked regulary but so far no problems.
